In the event that a BNI member cannot attend a weekly chapter meeting, substitutes are the recommended alternative to being listed as absent. Typically, substitutes are BNI members from other chapters who have offered to fill in as required.
As well as ensuring the chapter member's business is still represented at the meeting even though the member isn't present, they also provide an opportunity for BNI members to visit and experience chapters other than their own and promote their own business to a wider audience.
